ASSETT believes in "giving back" to the
community, both as a company and as individual citizens; therefore we work
together to support local and national causes. Here are a few examples of
recent projects.
ASSETT employees conducted
a fundraising drive to buy entertainment equipment for the recovering
Marines in Iraq. Nearly $8500 was collected, allowing us to make a
morale-boosting shipment of five flat-panel TVs, 12
DVD players, nearly 150 DVDs, six Playstation2 sets with over two dozen
games, and a microwave oven with a supply of popcorn and snacks.
ASSETT sponsors walkers in the American Cancer
Society's annual Relay for Life and Muscular Dystrophy Walk, helping participants accomplish their
donation goals and furthering research to find cures.
Recognizing that children are our community's
future, we have donated funds to help purchase new equipment for The
Manassas Blaze Baseball team, part of a travel league for girls 10 and
under. The league brings a more competitive edge to softball, helping girls
develop social and athletic skills.
ASSETT has made donations to the football team at
Osborne Park High School in Manassas, Virginia; funds were used to purchase
small footballs that were printed with the school logo and tossed up in the
stands at halftime to promote school spirit.
ASSETT is one of the sponsors of the NOVA Manassas Symphony Orchestra.
ASSETT sponsored a team in the 23rd Annual Kiwanis Club of Bull Run Charity Golf Tournament in August. A team selected from employees at ASSETT, as shown in the picture [from left-to-right Dave Brooks, Jim Cahill, Tony Almond, and Bill Lyders.] participated together in the tournament. The tournament was a traditional Captain’s Choice event with many local business sponsors and 31 sponsored teams competing.
Members of the ASSETT team are also active in
helping the community as individuals; for example, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, George
Dasher, serves on the Board of Directors for the Piedmont United Way and
the Culpeper School Board.
